On the seventh day of Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams the Sri Malayappa Swamy took a celestial ride atop the bright Surya Prabha Vahanam on Sunday morning.
Surya, the Sun God, who is the key architect of life of humans, animals and plants became the Charioteer to drive the Surya Prabha Vahanam for Sri Malayappa Swamy who cheered the devotees as Surya Narayanamurthy.
According to Puranic texts Surya, the Sun God always rode on a chariot driven by seven horses. He spreads light and health in the world and also removes darkness, which symbolizes poverty, illiteracy and ignorance.. Saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharyat praises Venkatewswara as no other than the Sun God in the midst of the Sun’s Sphere.
