On the fourth day of ongoing annual Brahmotsavams, Malayappa Swamy flanked by his two consorts, mounted atop the golden ‘Kalpavriksha Vahanam’, on Sunday morning.
Significance: When Gods and demons are churning the milky ocean for divine nectar-‘Amritam’, Kalpa Vriksha emerged as the divine wish fulfilling tree with many names as Kalpadruma, Kalpapadapa, Kalpataru.
In Indra’s Abode According to Hindu mythology, Lord Indra-the chief of Gods, has planted Kalpavriksha that originated from milky ocean at Mount Meru, in the middle of his five paradise gardens. In Indra’s ‘Devaloka’ it is said that there are five Kalpavrikshas, which are called Mandana, Parijata, Santana, Kalpavriksha and Harichandana, all of which fulfil various wishes.
