As the annual brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy is set to commence from September 13 onwards, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, the traditional temple cleansing fete was observed on Tuesday.
Speaking on this occasion, EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal said, before Anivara Asahanam, Ugadi, Vaikuntha Ekadasi and annual brahmotsavams every year. A special mixture made of ingredients like Kichiligadda (a tuber), turmeric, vermilion, camphor is prepare and is smeared on the roots and walls of the sanctum, other sub temples etc”, he added.
Mean while this celestial fete is performed as a purificatory festival on the Tuesday calling before the above said festivals. Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam was observed for over three hours on Tuesday. Darshanam for pilgrims commrnced after 11am.
Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Addl CVSO Sri Sivakumar Reddy, Temple Dy Sri Haridranath, Peishkars Sri Ramesh, Sri Nagaraj and others took part.
