Following the complaints by TTD, the Tirumala police on Thursday evening registered FIR and cases against persons who carried out malicious campaign hurting the sentiments of devotees.
The Tirumala 2- Town police registered a case against a person who posted on Facebook that eminent social worker Smt Sudha Narayanamurthy, has submitted resignation to her membership of TTD trust board.
In another case, a complaint by email was received from a devotee, Tamil Maiyyan, that Tamil Actor Shiv Kumar had posted a video on Facebook urging devotees to not visit Tirumala alleging anti-social activities happening at the holy pilgrim place. Tirumala police registered a case.
Police have also registered a case against three persons Macherla Srinivasulu, Prashant and Mungara Shivraj for spreading fake news during Covid-19 lockdown period that Srivari darshan would remain suspended till June 30. A case under sections of Epidemic Diseases Act has been registered on these persons who operated a way 2 news, short news app in social media and Godavari News WhatsApp, Tirupati Vaarta news.
Similarly in the social media https://www.facebook.com/atheisttelugu/ of 07-05-2020 edition a malicious report was uploaded that Srivari temple at Tirumala was originally a Buddhist shrine with a huge Buddha statue which was allegedly destroyed and converted into Sri Venkateswara idol. The post also alleged that tonsuring was a Buddhist tradition and not have Hindus.
Following a complaint by TTD, a case has been registered at the Tirumala 2 town police station on the operators of the said Facebook account.
