A major fire accident took place today in Tirumala Srivari laddu boondi kitchen (Potu) creating panic among thousands of devotees in the world famous hill shrine. The accident occured at around 3.00 pm. TTD fire fighting staff and Potu workers jointly sprayed water and used carbon dioxide gas to prevent further spreading of flames.
As per reports, unexpected fire flared up in the potu located on the north side of the sanctum sanctorum within the complex at around 3.00 PM. The fire reached up to the height of Potu exhaust fan. The incident raised concerns about safety measures being implemented by the TTD administration.
TTD Joint executive officer Srinivasa Raju, and other officials reached the location to take stock of the situation.
Official sources said that existing laddu boondi making Potu is not suitable on safety aspects. There is a need to build large kitchen with high-end fire safety facilities and air, smoke exhaust methods at some other place.
